On a defining day for UK politics, Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage have all resigned as leaders of their respective parties.
The Conservatives are close to forming a new government, with their rivals embarrassed in the polls over the past 24 hours.
In arguably the most stirring speech of his reign, Miliband told Labour supporters: “Thank you for the selfies, thank you for the support, and thank you for the most unlikely cult of the 21st century: Milifandom.
“The fight goes on. Labour will keep making the case for working people once again.”

Farage fulfilled his campaign pledge to step down after failing to win the South Thanet seat, but suggested he will run for leadership again in the autumn.

Clegg, meanwhile, looked shattered by a punishing night for the Liberal Democrats, and said that “fear and grievance has won”.
