Mystery thumb uncovered in original uncropped version of Prince Andrew pic

Andrew still maintains that he can’t remember Giuffre

While the cropped version has been seen across the world, the uncropped original of Prince Andrew and a 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre seems to show a mystery thumb in the bottom right corner.

For 20 years – and amid the growing case against the Duke of York – the identity of the photographer behind this now-infamous image has remained a mystery.

The picture itself was allegedly taken in March of 2001. Andrew claims he does not remember the photo, nor Giuffre who he is pictured with his arm around. Ghislaine Maxwell stands eerily in the background.

Thumb

The person’s identity connected to the thumb remains a mystery.

Former royal protection officer Paul Page claimed palace staff believed the Duke of York and Maxwell had an “intimate relationship”.

Speaking on ITV’s documentary Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile, Page said: “From the way she was allowed to enter and exit the palace, at will, we realised… suspected, that she may have had an intimate relationship with Prince Andrew.

“A colleague of mine remembered her coming in four times in one day from the morning till the evening – she kept coming in and out, in and out…”

This comes amid growing tensions in the Royal stratosphere which began after the Queen revoked her son’s royal privileges which allegedly left him in tears.

A source told the Mirror: “The Prince was tearful when told the news even though he had expected it. He feels that he has let so many people down, not least his mother, during her Platinum Jubilee year.”

The statement from the Queen reads: “With the Queen’s approval and agreement, The Duke of York’s affiliations and royal patronages have been returned to the Queen.

“The Duke of York will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen.”
