Nutella refuse to provide personalised jar to 5-year-old named Isis

Nutella have refued to supply a personalised jar to a five-year-old Australian girlĀ because her name is Isis.

Chocolate manufacturer Ferrero – who own Nutella- are currently running a campaign which allows customers to spread their name on the front of a jar of the chocolate sandwich filler, but have certain words they will refuse to print.

One such word is “Isis”, which is a commonly-used acronym of the terrorist group Islamic State. Unfortunately, Isis is also the name of an Egpytian goddess who is associated withĀ nature and magic, who lends her name to children all over the world.

In a statement, the company said: “Like all campaigns, there needs to be consistency in the way terms and conditions are applied.Ā Unfortunately, this has meant there have been occasions where a label has not been approved on the basis that it could have been misinterpreted by the broader community or viewed as inappropriate.”

Heather Taylor, the mother of Isis, took to Facebook to vent her frustration.
