There has been a huge outpouring of support for Everton winger Aaron Lennon following news of his detainment under the Mental Health Act.
Police were called to his location in Salford on Sunday afternoon, believed to be a busy road close to the M602, where he was negotiated with for 20 minutes, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Officers believed he was in a precarious situation and were concerned for his welfare.
Everton commented, saying that Lennon was “receiving care and treatment for a stress-related illness”.
News of Lennon’s admission has sparked a huge response on social media, with professionals and fans alike showing their support for the 30-year-old.
