It was the day we all dreamed of. The day that McDonald’s announced it would be serving its legendary breakfast menu all day.
Fans of the famous Egg McMuffin around the world rejoiced. The customer had finally won.
But while the thought of being able to lay your hands on a Bacon Roll at any time of day is the ultimate Maccy’s lover’s wet dream, the reality is apparently somewhat different.
The New York Post claims the switch to serving breakfast stuff around the clock has been an unmitigated disaster.
The US paper says McDonald’s franchises across the pond lament that it has slowed down service, lowered average bills and brought chaos to once-regimented kitchens.
However, the New York Post quotes one franchise as saying in a report: “In small stores, the problems are vast with people falling over each other and equipment jammed in everywhere.”
“Customers are abandoning us in droves because we are either too slow, or sub-par quality,” remarked another.
One franchise even said: “All-day breakfast is a non-starter. We are trading customers down from regular menu to lower-priced breakfast items. Not generating new traffic.”
It may be just teething problems as restaurants get to grips with serving the menu all day.
McDonald’s still says it’s the number one request it hears from customers
