Morgan has come under fire for denying Markle’s suicidal thoughts
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s highly-anticipated sit down with Oprah Winfrey was all anyone could talk about yesterday, and for good reason. Even before the CBS showing aired at 9pm on ITV, the Good Morning Britain host made his feelings on the matter quite clear.
After Meghan revealed that there was a particular period around the pair’s Australia tour where she “didn’t want to be alive anymore”, Piers Morgan was quick to voice his disbelief: “I don’t believe a word she says, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe a weather report if she read it.”
Morgan went on to criticise both Harry and Meghan not only for the content of their interview but the timing, specifically, citing the Duke of Edinburgh’s current ill-health and the level of stress this would be putting the Queen under. An ironic display of compassion compared to the rest of his conduct.
Following these statements and outright attempt to discredit Markle’s suffering, Mind – the mental health charity that has been collaborating with ITV since 2019 through their ‘Get Britain Talking’ initiative – took to Twitter in response.

It would seem the GMB host, who regularly serves as nothing more than an early morning agitator, let the mask slip and forgot about the larger repercussion his words might have.
Although co-presenter, Susanna Reid, offered some resistance, it felt more like a quick disclaimer following what, presumably, the entire studio knew was a highly-inflammatory comment.
“Do you feel genuine sympathy with Megan Markle and Prince Harry after watching that load of bilge?” Morgan jibed.
Reid responded: “Anyone who says they were left feeling suicidal and didn’t want to be alive any more, you have to feel sympathy for them.’

Morgan continued to label the interview a “2-hour trashathon” and that he found her “onslaught” against the Royal Family “contemptible.”
Once again, after having allowed Morgan to go on with his rant ad nauseam, she replied: “That’s a pathetic reaction to someone who has expressed those thoughts.”
He later went on to walk off the show this morning after coming under fire from fellow colleague, Alex Beresford. It would seem that not only does Piers Morgan show little regard for the cause he is supposedly allied with but that while he can dish out criticism, he cannot take it.
