The Irish singer described him as the ‘very light of my life’
Shane O’Connor, the son of Irish musician Sinéad O’Connor, has died at the age of 17, just two days after he went missing.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, O’Connor tweeted: “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.
“May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.”

The 55-year-old also shared the Bob Marley song ‘Ride Natty Ride’, with the caption: “This is for my Shaney. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eye baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundary can separate us.”

Shane O’Connor had been missing since Thursday, with the Gardaí launching an appeal for his whereabouts. The 17-year-old had gone missing from Newbridge, County Kildare, and had last been seen on Friday morning in the Tallaght, Dublin 24 area, the Gardaí said.
In an appeal reissued by police, officers had said they were concerned for his welfare.

They have since confirmed that the search for the teenager is over, with a spokesperson saying: “Following the recovery of a body in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday 7 January 2022, a missing person appeal in respect of Shane O’Connor, 17 years, has been stood down.”
Shane was the singer’s second-youngest child and his father was the Irish musician Dónal Lunny. She is also mother to Jake, 34, Roisin, 25, and Yeshua, 14.
