He hit a tree while travelling at
Tiger Woods’ car crash in February that left him in hospital with injuries to his legs was caused by excessive speed, Los Angeles police said in a press conference on Wednesday.
On February 23, Woods crashed his car was had to be rescued from the vehicle by firefighters.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Woods was travelling 40 miles per hour over the speed limit – around 85 in a 45mph zone – as he went round a curve and crashed into a tree.
“The primary causal factor for the collision was driving at an unsafe speed for the road conditions and being unable to negotiate the curve,” said Villanueva.
No criminal charges will be made against Woods, who was not cited for driving too fast, and was wearing is seatbelt at the time of the crash.
