Since the Premier League has pretty much ceased to be a two-horse race, attentions turned to the Grand National.
There were plenty more horses to choose from at Aintree Racecourse than just ‘Chelsea’.
All eyes were on 19-time champion jockey AP McCoy who was hoping to make history on Shutthefrontdoor.
But it was Many Clouds that romped home first with Saint Are and Monbeg Dude coming second and third.
McCoy’s horse was the most backed of all time for this race, according to bookies.
But he finished fifth.
We can hear champagne corks popping in bookmakers across the country right now as thousands of punters headed home empty handed to tell their wives they blew the holiday fund.
If only the EPL was this exciting.
Here’s what Twitter thought of the old Grand National.
There were the inevitable horse jokes…

If horse racing was posh enough for Jack Whitehall, we imagine this is how he would’ve reacted to the win…

It wouldn’t be a sporting event without Spurs boss Tim Sherwood being shoehorned in somehow…
