That was a rough few hours.
Instant messaging app WhatsApp have apologised after the entire planet pretty much lost its mind for a few hours while the app was inaccessible on Wednesday night.
All over the world, people realised the ludicrous extent to which we are now reliant on the world’s most popular messaging service, which is used by over a billion people worldwide.
WhatsApp delivered no public explanation for why its service was down on Wednesday via its website, its (dormant) Twitter or Facebook accounts, but did make a brief comment on the matter in a media statement obtained by Tech Crunch.
“Earlier today, WhatsApp users in all parts of the world were unable to access WhatsApp for a few hours. We have now fixed the issue and apologise for the inconvenience,” the statement read.
While the WhatsApp issue did provide plenty of entertainment via the #whatsappdown and #whatsappisdown hashtags on Twitter last night, heaven forbid how we’d react if the outage actually lasted any more than a few hours.
Please don’t put us through that again anytime soon, WhatsApp…
