A YouTuber is facing prison after feeding Oreos filled with toothpaste to a homeless man.
Handing them over to the man along with a €20 (£17) note, Kanghua says: “Maybe I’ve gone a bit far, but look at the positive side: this will help him clean his teeth. I think he hasn’t cleaned them since he became poor.”
Understandably, there’s been an enormous backlash against the YouTuber for the video, especially with reports claiming he has earned in excess of £2,000 from advertising linked to it.
Now facing a charge of a crime against moral integrity, prosecutors in Spain are pursuing a two-year prison sentence for Kanghua, as well as an order to pay the homeless man €30,000 (over £26,000) in compensation.
Following the outbreak of public anger towards the video, Kanghua is said to have attempted to visit Gheorge L, seemingly with the intention of recording a second video documenting a night sleeping out on the street. However, a witness later contacted the police, who intervened.
Prosecutors have said Kanghua has since deleted the video as well as offering the homeless man €300 (£259) to remain silent on the matter.
