Donald Trump used to say Barack Obama played too much golf. So I suppose it should come as no surprise that he has spent every Saturday and Sunday since losing an election in the height of a global pandemic playing golf. This is, after all, a president who suggested injecting disinfectant might help to get rid of coronavirus.

Trump’s latest trips to the golf course have attracted fierce criticism, after the president missed a Covid Preparedness event as part of the virtual G20 summit on the same day that 195,000 new cases of the virus were recorded in the States, according to Johns Hopkins.

According to reports, Trump did attend the main summit via video link but only lasted 13 minutes before firing off a sequence of tweets about how he hadn’t actually lost, continuing his endless online tantrum.

A few hours later, Trump was on the golf course just outside Washington D.C. while he could (and should) have been attending a G20 event dedicated to dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and other world leaders, all participated, CNN reported. Trump did not.

Steven Rattner, former head of Obama Auto Task Force, tweeted his disapproval saying: “He has played golf every Sat and Sun since election and now skips G-20 pandemic mtg to play. The man who said Obama played too much golf. He is cementing his position as among our very worst presidents.”

“Among our very worst” is putting it lightly.
