Earlier on Thursday Trump said: “I look forward to our second meeting.”
The news follows Trump’s U-turn over whether Russia had meddled in the US’ 2016 election, having said when stood next to Putin that he believed in the Russian state’s innocence. He since stated that he had misspoke, and meant to say ‘wouldn’t’ instead of ‘would’ when he said: “My people came to me and some others, they said they think it’s Russia. I have President Putin, he just said it’s not Russia. I will say this, I don’t see any reason why it would be.”
