There’s been a General Election recently. You might have heard.
After it, Theresa May remains the Prime Minister – although she did manage to lose an overall majority in parliament as a result and has since faced calls to stand down. She isn’t doing.
Instead, a mere five days on from election day, the PMÂ has decided to visit newly-elected French president, Emmanuel Macron in Paris. We should probably stress that obviously, she was there to discuss Brexit negotiations and the approach of the two countries to dealing with the threat of terrorism.
With her trip to the French capital coinciding with England friendly match with France in the Stade de France, May was also pictured taking her seat in the stadium alongside Macron ahead of kick off.
Having seen this on television, many were quick to respond by pointing out May’s refusal to attend the live election debates which took place in the run in to polling day. At the time, she explained she was “too busy thinking about Brexit negotiations” to bother turning up for the debates.
So, as she was spotted in the Saint Denis crowd, you can probably guess the point people were bringing up…
So Theresa May can turn up for France vs England friendly but not for a debate to prove herself to her country 🤔

So Theresa #May can turn up to a football match, but not to a TV debate with other of the country's political leaders. Farcical. #FRAENG
