Not for the first time, what the hell is he on about?
Speaking on Capitol Hill at a reception with Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Donald Trump took to the podium armed with one of his favourite Irish proverbs.
“I’m reminded of that proverb, and this is a good one, this is one I LIKE… I’ve heard it for many, many years and I love it…” he said, as the crowd waited with bated breath for a bit of, ‘NÃl and tinteán mar do thinteán féin.’
Except the American President had a completely different proverb in mind. In true Trump style, this one was so good and so historical that absolutely nobody bar him (and his speechwriting staff) had ever heard it before.
“Always remember to forget the friends that proved untrue, but never forget to remember those that have stuck by you.”
A beautiful and completely wacky sentiment, we can all agree.

Does it remind anyone else of this?
