Whether you decided to stay up, or set your alarm to wake up early, this is quite startling news. For the first time on election night, the New York Times predict Donald Trump is likely to be elected the President of the United States of America.
Florida remains too close to call with Trump still holding a slight lead, but the Republican candidate is currently projected to win in Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Nebraska, Arkansas and Louisiana.
Meanwhile, Clinton is favourite to win in New York, Vermont, New Jersey, DC, Massachusetts, Maryland, Delaware, Illinois, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
The NY Times had Clinton as steady favourite for most of the night, but things have changed drastically, and at the time of writing they predict between 53%-59% likelihood that Trump will win. Whatever happens, Trump is performing decidedly better than anyone predicted.
Oh my.
