Goodbye social life, hello Wild West

After weeks of anticipation, Red Dead Redemption Online finally launches today.

The online version of Red Dead will launch in beta on November 27th at 8:30 a.m. ET – that’s 1.30pm, UK time.

At first, it will only be available to owners of the Ultimate Edition of RDR2. On Wednesday, it will then open up to those who purchased the game on day of release (October 26th). The day after that, it’ll be open to those who got it in the first three days.

Then on Friday, November 30th, it’ll be available to all players.

The online multiplayer mode will let you explore the massive game world solo or with friends, with allowing you to both team up, and get competitive.

Rockstar promise it will be “an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience in the original Red Dead Redemption, blending narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay in fun new ways.”

It will offer “constant updates and adjustments to grow and evolve this experience for all players.”

The multiplayer mode is free, and available on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – through the PS4 version will have exclusive outfits, guns and horses.

Grand Theft Auto Online launched in October 2013, spinning out of Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar have continued to update the game with updates ever since, and we can foresee a similar long-term plan for Red Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Redemption 2 came out last month, to rave reviews. It is pretty good and you should probably play it.
