Just wait for it
In random a bit of trivia you absolutely didn’t ask for but will almost certainly raise an eyebrow at, did you know that the woman who holds the record for the world’s longest name has a birth certificate that is two feet long? Nope, neither did we until today.
Back in 1984, Texas mum Sandra Williams decided to give schoolteachers a future registration nightmare, as she gave birth to a baby girl who she decided to call Rhoshandiatellyneshiaunneveshenk Koyaanisquatsiuth Williams.
Those who can name that Welsh train station are licking their lips right now
In this clip from The Oprah Winfrey Show back in 1997, you can see Sandra and… well, we’ll let her pronounce it because she might be the only person in the world who can.
As you can see, the best part about the whole thing is that first name we typed out is just the abridged version: her parents filed an amendment so that she could change her name to its 1,019-letters-long original.
After being asked by the entire crowd, “what were you thinking?”, mum Sandra simply responded “I had to do something to do something to break a Guinness Book [of World] Record”.
So, in fact, her full name is as follows:
Rhoshandiatellyneshiaunneveshenkescianneshaimondrischlyndasaccarnaerenquellenendrasamecashaunette*thalemeicoleshiwhalhinive’onchellecaundeneshea*alausondrilynne*jeanetr*imyranae*kuesaundrilynnezekeriakenvaunetradevonneyavondalatarneskcaevontaepreonkeinesce*ellaviavelzadawne*friendsetta*jessicanne*lescia*joyvae*lloydietteyvette*sparklenesce*aundrieaquenttae*katilyaevea’shauwne*oraliaevae*kizzieshiyjuane*wandaleccianne*reneithelia*preciousnesceverronecca*lovelia*tyroneveka*carrionne*henriettaesce*cleonpatra*ruthelia*charsalynnmeokca*monae*loiesalynnecsiannemerciadellesciaustilla*parissalondonveshadenequamoneca*alexetiozetiaquania*englaundneshia*francethosha*romeshaunne*hawaineakowethauandavernellchishankcarlinaaddoneillescia*christondrafawndrea*laotrelle*octavionnemiaria*sarahtashabnequcka*gailenaxeteshiataharadaponsa*deloriakoentesca*craignecka*dellanierstella*vonnemyiatangoneshia*diana*corvettina*godtawndra*shirlenescekilokoneya*sharrontannamyantoniaaquinettesequioadaurilessiaquatanda*merceddia*maebellecesca*jamesauwnnel*tomecapolotyoajohnyae*theodora*dilcyana.
If you look closely enough, not only can pick various shorter names that have simply been extended with ‘esca’ or ‘ella’, but you can also spot various locations that seem to be have been included for absolutely no reason at all.
For example: ‘parissalondonveshadenequamoneca’, ‘englaundneshia’, ‘francethosha’, romeshaunne’ and ‘hawaineakowethauandavernellchishankcarlinaaddoneillescia’ are just some of the bizarre barrels included in her name.
There is also a 36-letter middle name somewhere in there and we’re not going to even attempt to find it. In fact, that’s your challenge – we leave it up to you to decipher where it starts. Here is your one and only clue:
