The debate over the legalisation of cannabis is one which has gone on for many years, and will likely continue for many more.
Those on both sides of the argument have presented evidence – ranging from the anecdotal to the scientific, but now a study commissioned by Nick Clegg could convince lawmakers to pay attention.
The study has found that if the UK elevates the drug to the same status as tobacco it could raise upwards of £500m for the Treasury.
Under the terms of recommendations, more potent forms of cannabis would remain illegal.
