More than 2,000 British Airways tickets have been cancelled because they were too cheap, a travel agent has said.
Customers are angry their tickets are not being honoured and BA has apologised for the error which has affected flights to Tel Aviv and Dubai, which were listed as costing £1 plus fares and airport taxes.
Ali Shah, boss of Travel Up, said the “human error” meant the prices were live from 5.45pm on June 11 to mid morning the next day and thinks five other travel agencies were affected.
The agent, who said more than 2,000 of his customers have been affected, told the BBC : “It’s very cruel for the customers because they have booked these flights in good faith and expected it to be honoured.
“But I can also understand British Airways’ position, it’s a human error.”
The airline is contacting customers to provide a full refund and a £100 voucher, Mr Shah said.
BA said in a statement: “Errors like this are exceptionally rare, and if they do occur, under contract law, there is no binding contract between the parties.
“We have apologised to customers and offered a gesture of goodwill.”
