Many have failed to see what the big deal is
Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott has apologised after she was photographed drinking alcohol on a London Overground train.
Since 2008, it has been illegal to illegal to drink on public transport, under rules introduced by then-mayor Boris Johnson.
In a tweet, Diane Abbott said “A photo of me drinking from a can of M&S mojito on the Overground has been circulated. I’m sincerely sorry for drinking on TFL.”

The picture was published in The Sun.
On social media, far from being shocked, many found Abbott drinking a can of M&S premixed cocktail very relatable.
I didn’t think it was possible for my admiration of Diane Abbott to grow any greater until I found out that she drank a tinny on the train.

I love that the most common reaction to Diane Abbott drinking on a train is people finally feeling represented by a politician 😂

Fellow Labour MPs David Lammy and Alex Sobel also stated that they did not see what all the fuss was about.
Sorry for what? Why wasn’t the rum Jamaican. 🇯🇲 https://t.co/aD1ru8N6fB

So while I was at the Brude having a drink the whole Diane Abbott drinking a can of Mojito on the train happened. Why is this a thing? I have never seen a sign saying you can’t drink on the London Overground! I didn’t know you couldn’t. On Transpennine they try and sell you beer
