The cats were found decapitated within five days of each other
Fears that a “sick cat killer” may be on the loose in the Leeds area are mounting after two dead cats which had been beheaded were found within just five days of each other, Leeds Live reported.
Local people have been warned to be on the lookout after the Leeds division of the small charity ‘Cat Action Trust 1977’ said they found a cat who had been beheaded in the Seacroft area in the East of the city on 22 May.
Yesterday, a second report of a beheaded cat was made. A man took to social media to make locals aware that his partner had seen another cat who had been killed on the footpath leading up towards Cragg Woods in Horsforth, Leeds.
Following the two incidents, local people have been urged to keep their pets indoors at night.
The group Cat Action Trust 1977 said in a statement posted to social media: “People beware. Keep your cats in at night.
“We were called to pick up a deceased cat at Seacroft tonight and when we got there we found the cat had been beheaded.
“Owner informed and devastated.”
They charity added that the cat had been a young “friendly female” who had “probably” trusted the wrong person. Cat Action Trust 1977 said that they had informed the police about the incidents.
