Celebrities haven’t been shy about publicly expressing their opinions on America’s new president since Donald Trump took office, but actor Seth Rogen discovered a more direct way of communicating his concerns on Thursday.
Literally.
After realising that the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., was one of his 5.22 million followers on Twitter, Rogen decided to contact him directly to talk about his Dad, initially through a regular tweet, later followed by a series of direct messages.
A direct message usually means a private correspondence, of course, but Rogen decided to let everyone in on the fun by posting screenshots of the messages he sent to Trump Jr. on his Twitter feed.
Those messages followed a frankly astonishing press conference held by Trump on Thursday in which he coined the phrase “very fake news,” and was contradicted by a reporter when falsely claiming he had the biggest electoral margin since President Ronald Reagan.
Rogen first asked Donald Trump Jr. to ask his Dad “to resign before he destroys the planet”.
Yo! @DonaldJTrumpJr! I noticed you follow me on Twitter. Please ask your dad to resign before he destroys the planet. Thanks dude.

He then addressed more specific concerns in direct messages, such as the resignation of national security advisor Michael Flynn earlier this week following contradictory statements delivered to vice president Mike Pence about a discussion Flynn had had with the Russian ambassador to the US.

If @jasoninthehouse won't investigate Flynn's ties to Russia, maybe I can get his boss' son to help me do it. pic.twitter.com/bmOfDDepC3

If we were Seth Rogen, we wouldn’t be expecting a reply anytime soon.
