The supermarket giant is urging customers not to eat the product over fears of possible contamination
The supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has issued a recall for the brand’s own Taste the Difference Medjool Dates over fears that the product could possibly be contaminated with Hepatitis A.
The product recall refers to both the 200g product and 500g product with all ‘best before’ dates, the chain said.
On Sainsbury’s website, the notice said : “It has been brought to our attention that packs of Taste the Difference Medjool Dates 200g & 500g with a supplier/site code of K0014 EW may be contaminated with Hepatitis A.
“We are asking customers who have purchased these products with this specific supplier code not to eat them and to return them to their nearest Sainsbury’s store for a full refund when they next visit for groceries & other essentials. Please note that packs without this code present are not affected.

The supermarket chain added that no other products have been affected by this particular issue.
On the Food Standards Agency website, a statement read: “Sainsbury’s is taking the precautionary action of recalling Taste the Difference Medjool dates because they might be contaminated with Hepatitis A.
“These products might be contaminated with Hepatitis A. Symptoms caused by Hepatitis A usually include fever, nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, dark-coloured urine and jaundice (a yellowing of the skin).
“If you have bought these products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.”
