The London Night Tube just took another step towards becoming a reality.
London Underground Tube drivers have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new pay and condition deal that should could finally bring about a 24 hour train service in London.
The Aslef union, which represents all train drivers in the United Kingdom, has reported that tube drivers voted 9 to 1 in favour of the deal. Drivers in the RMT union have also accepted the deal, removing two major blocks in making the night tube a possibility.
Talking about the vote to the London Evening Standard, Aslef officer Finn Brennan said: “Aslef members on London Underground have voted by a huge majority to accept the improved offer on pay and night Tube.”
The night tube service was previously planned for a September 2015 launch, but was hamstrung by disputes between Transport for London (Tfl) and tube drivers over disputes in pay. But with two unions now agreeing to a new deal, London could possibly be transformed with 24 hour train travel.
