Donald Trump wants WWE CEO for Secretary of Commerce

Things just get weirder and weirder

Paul Moore

Yep, you read that right.

President-elect Donald Trump is currently in the process of hand-picking his cabinet for his upcoming term in the White House and after opting for Reince Priebus as Chief of Staff, he has reportedly turned his attention to a candidate that’s far more familiar with the public at  large, former WWE CEO Linda McMahon.

NBC Connecticut are reporting that the former WWE chief executive, two-time US Senate candidate and wife of Vince McMahon is a strong candidate for the position.

As many of you will know, Trump has a history of working in collaboration with the McMahons. Wrestlemanias IV and V were held at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City and the incoming president has also appeared and ‘competed’ at Wrestlemania VII and Wrestlemania 23 respectively.

Mr Trump will be the first member of the WWE Hall of Fame to assume the role of the presidency.

Linda McMahon ran a failed campaign for senate in 2010 and later lost as the Republican nominee in 2012 for Connecticut’s other senate seat. Her experience in the political realm include a year-long stint on the Connecticut Board of Education, but she is known to be a huge financial donor to Trump’s recent campaign.

McMahon’s most memorable moment on screen in the WWE was when she feuded with her family, which climaxed at Wrestlmania 2000. The main event was a Championship four-way elimination match involving The Big Show (with Shane McMahon), Mick Foley (with Linda McMahon), The Rock (with Vince McMahon), and the defending champion, Triple H (with Stephanie McMahon).

A crossover between the worlds of wrestling and politics does have precedence. For example;  Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura once served as Governor of Minnesota, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler missed out on becoming Mayor of Memphis in ’99 and Rhyno once ran for the Michigan House of Representatives.

This being said, these reports about McMahon potentially joining Trump’s cabinet has got Twitter talking.
