A report has emerged that President Donald Trump once joked that his Vice President, Mike Pence, wants to “hang all” gay people.
On Monday, The New Yorker published a report that alleges while meeting with a legal scholar in order to discuss the possibility of outlawing abortion in the United States, Trump made comments about Pence’s beliefs on homosexuality.
First, Trump belittled Pence for trying to get Roe vs Wade, a landmark Supreme Court decision in the US that allows for the right to an abortion, saying “You see?” You’ve wasted all this time and energy on it, and it’s not going to end abortion anyway,” when they were told most states would maintain reproductive rights even if the decision were overturned.
After the conversation turned to gay rights, Trump is reported to have pointed at Pence and said “Don’t ask that guy—he wants to hang them all!”
The remarks have been slammed on Twitter.

It’s very clear who is driving the anti-LGBTQ agenda in the White House when Trump jokes about Pence saying ‘don’t ask him, he wants to hang them all.’ These poor excuses for men disgust me.

Referring to #LGBTQ people, Donald Trump joked Mike Pence wants to "hang them all." That's not funny, that's evil. https://t.co/n4w3iSiLyZ pic.twitter.com/0uR8klf5Ga

Trump said that Mike Pence wants to “hang them all.” All gay people. Are we snowflakes for not wanting to be led by men who want to kill us? https://t.co/JSWLlmCiPQ

Pence, who was Governor of Indiana before he accepted to run as Trump’s Vice President, has famously been a proponent of anti-gay stances throughout his political career, and has said that the existence of gay couples signals a “societal collapse.”
