Mikaeel Kular was attacked by his mother for four days
A 41-year-old woman who killed her son has been released from jail after 6 years into an 11-year prison sentence.
Rosdeep Adekoya was imprisoned in January 2014, after she beat her 3 year-old son Mikaeel Kular to death when he was sick after a family meal at Nando’s.
Adekoya was released from Cornton Vale prison in Stirling in central Scotland this weekend, as reported by the Daily Record.
The mum-of-five, from Edinburgh, brutally attacked Mikaeel for four days, leaving him with 40 injuries on his body.
Adekoya then put her son’s body in a suitcase and dumped it behind her sister’s house in Kirkcaldy in Fife.
She told police that her son had disappeared from the family home, and tricked thousands of concerned members of the public into searching for Mikaeel.
Mikaeel’s body was then found two days later in Adekoya’s sister’s garden in the seaside town of Kirkcaldy.
The boy’s mother began to break down during her third interview with police.
She told police officers: “It was an accident and I panicked,” as reported by the Daily Record.
She said: “I am going to go to jail?”
The mum-of-five was originally charged with murder but was convicted of the lesser crime of culpable homicide, after she told the High Court in Edinburgh that she did not intend to kill her son.
According to the Daily Record, Adekoya was moved to a “cushy” unit one year into her sentence after she claimed that threatening letters were left outside her prison cell. She was reportedly called a child-beater and a beast in the letters.
Adekoya was released from prison four years into her sentence as part of a scheme that attempts to prepare her for freedom, the Daily Record reported.
