An England football fan has been jailed for 10 years after pushing a man onto electrified tube tracks just over 30 seconds before a train was due to arrive.
The incident occurred at Bond Street Station in London on June 9, 2016, a day before the start of the Euro 2016 Championships in France.
According to the BBC, 32-year old Christopher Cole pleaded guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent after pushing a 21-year old Polish man onto the tracks following an argument on a Central Line train.
Cole, who mistook the victim, David Pietraskzek, as Russian, told the Old Bailey he pushed Pietraskzek onto the tracks after he got drunk and picked an argument with him on board the train. He told the court he was angry with the behaviour of Russian fans at Euro 2016.
Pietraskzek was pushed onto the tracks 34 seconds before the arrival of a train at the station but managed to climb back onto the platform seconds before it arrived.

He sustained a fractured finger, cuts and serious bruises on his back – which were believed to be burns at first – and could have lost his life were it not for the fact that he was wearing shoes with rubber soles at the time, according to Prosecutor Deanna Heer.
Cole has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
